Matt has been the VP of Business Development & a partner at Keirton Inc. With over a decade of experience in the cannabis industry, Keirton has made a name for itself by providing growers with the world’s fastest and most dependable medical cannabis harvesting machines. Twister Trimmer™ is the most recognized and widely used harvesting solution, not only in Canada, but internationally. In addition, Matt is a co-founder of Lift & Co, a company that owns the Canadian medical cannabis market. Lift & Co is home to Canada’s largest database of comprehensive medical marijuana reviews left by real patient and is leading in its category - media and tech. Matt is also a director of a non-profit organization, Ruben’s Shoes.



Strategic Advisor

Mr. Ginsberg has over a decade of experience in the regulated cannabis industry that will be invaluable to WCCSC’s operations. He is skilled in Management, Strategic Planning, Business Development and Leadership. As Co-Founder, Partner and Chairman of the Board for the Native Roots Dispensary group (23 locations, 800+ employees), Josh Ginsberg built a strong reputation in the US cannabis industry. A lifelong entrepreneur, Mr. Ginsberg notably co-founded and built the Native Roots brand from the ground up to become the largest legal cannabis distribution company in the world. Mr. Ginsberg and his team built their brand reputation with a focus on customer education and a comfortable experience through professionalism, training, the look and feel of the stores, the enjoyment of the team and the ease of customers.

Compliance and Regulatory

Mr. Sweeney is an experienced senior executive who has led teams in both the public and private sectors in Canada. Currently, Neil is CEO of Kirk Environmental, which is a subsidiary of Kirk & Co. of Vancouver, a firm specializing in public affairs, communications, Indigenous relations and overall project strategy. Prior to this role, Neil served for six years as a Deputy Minister of Corporate Policy and Intergovernmental Relations in the Province of British Columbia. Neil also served seven years with Labatt Breweries as both a Vice-President and Regional Director of Corporate Affairs, with extensive responsibility for overseeing regulatory matters across the country and liaising with Health Canada on public health and safety initiatives. Neil has also served in political roles in both the federal and provincial governments, as Deputy Chief of Staff to Premier Gordon Campbell in British Columbia as well as Director of Legislative Affairs to Finance Minister Paul Martin.

Government Relations

Nicole Read has been a consultant and advisor to government on complex policy issues and large-scale projects for close to 20 years.  Between 2011 and 2014, Nicole served as Project Manager for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, coordinating stakeholders to meet their obligations under the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, the largest civil settlement in Canada’s History.  From 2014 to 2018, Nicole served as Mayor of the City of Maple Ridge, population 85,000, as well as a Director on the Metro Vancouver Board and Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation.  From 2016-2017, Nicole Co-Chaired the Metro Vancouver Homelessness Task Force with former Vancouver Mayor, Gregor Robertson.  This role brought together a team of elected officials, city administrators and stakeholders to develop a roadmap to addressing homelessness in Metro Vancouver.  Throughout her career, Nicole has been called upon to meet the objectives of various levels of government, including various First Nations in British Columbia and throughout the country.  She understands how government policy is developed and how to help clients navigate it successfully to meet a multitude of objectives.

Education and Training

Emma is a dynamic leader with proven expertise in building global lifestyle brands. She combines her passion for education, innovation, health sciences and marketing to deliver an "anything but average" approach to building world-class programs, products, and experiences. Through 10+ years working across the natural products, sport nutrition, and cannabis industries, Emma's led the development of renowned education and experiential marketing programs within retail, CPG, and non-profit sectors; planned and facilitated hundreds of events for participants across North America; launched and reformulated SKU's earning multi-million dollars in revenue across a variety of distribution channels including online, and retail. Combined with a passion for studying natural health category trends, she’s developed a comprehensive understanding of consumer segments, and best practices for retailers & brands to engage with them. Emma's specialities include education strategy, nutrition communications, brand storytelling, content creation, and product innovation.

Alex Cooley has been the co-founder and operator of several cannabis companies over the past decade, most notably Solstice, Washington’s first cannabis brand. In the years he has had cannabis as a career, he has excelled at government relations, business development, cultivation, and product expertise. He has had the opportunity to serve as president and board member to several prestigious organizations from such as The Cannabis Alliance and The National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA). In recent years, Alex has put focus into criminal justice reform and education through his work as an expert witness and collegiate lecturer.
